Taiwan School Tragedy: Car Crash Kills 3, Injures 12
A devastating car crash near a school outside Taipei, Taiwan, has resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to twelve others.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred on Monday around 4:00 pm local time when a 78-year-old driver allegedly ran a red light, causing a collision with motorbikes and pedestrians.
Among the deceased were two 12-year-old girls and a 40-year-old woman. Nine of the injured are students from Sanxia Junior High School, aged 12 to 15, and the youngest victim is a six-year-old child.
The driver, who lost consciousness after the crash, tested negative for alcohol.
Government Response
President Lai Ching-te expressed his condolences and has ordered a task force to support the victims and investigate the incident.
New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih visited the injured in the hospital, stating that some are still receiving intensive care and that the responsibility for the accident will be clarified.
