Indian Cab Driver Attacked in Dublin, Raising Safety Concerns
A taxi driver of Indian origin was recently assaulted in Dublin, Ireland, marking another disturbing incident targeting Indian nationals.
Details of the Assault
The driver, Lakhvir Singh, who has resided in Ireland for over two decades, was struck twice on the head with a bottle in Poppintree, Ballymun on Friday evening. The attackers, reportedly shouting xenophobic slurs, fled the scene, leaving Singh injured and deeply shaken.
Following treatment at Beaumont Hospital, Singh expressed profound fear about returning to work. "I'm really scared now and I'm off the road at the moment. It will be very hard to go back. My children are really scared.", he said.
Police Investigation
Gardaí are investigating the assault, which occurred on August 1, 2025. "Gardaí are investigating an assault reported to have occurred in Poppintree, Ballymun, Dublin 11 at approximately 11:45pm on Friday, 1st August 2025. A man, aged in his 40s, was brought to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injury. Investigations are ongoing.", a Garda representative stated.
