Zelensky Insists on Ukraine's Role in Peace Talks
As anticipation builds for a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reaffirmed that Ukraine's involvement is crucial for any peace solution.
Prior to the confirmation of this meeting, Trump suggested Ukraine might need to concede territory to Russia to end the conflict, which began in February 2022.
Zelensky responded via Telegram, stating firmly that Ukraine will not cede land to the occupier and that its stance is enshrined in the Ukrainian Constitution.
He emphasized readiness to collaborate with partners for a "real" and "lasting" peace.
This development occurs against a backdrop of concerns that any agreement might be reached without Ukraine's input, echoing worries previously expressed by Ukraine and its European allies.
