Fatal Road Tragedy Strikes Johor: Truck Debris Kills MPV Passenger

A devastating incident unfolded on a Malaysian road in Johor, claiming the life of a 63-year-old man after a substantial iron rod, estimated to weigh 100 kilograms, detached from a passing tipper truck. The heavy metal object tragically penetrated the windshield of a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), fatally striking the passenger, Mr. Juhari Murid, in the face.

Details of the Tragic Accident

The harrowing event occurred on the morning of November 24, 2025, along Jalan Sri Bengkal in Sri Gading. Mr. Juhari was traveling with his wife, Ms. Zaina Khalid (58), his brother Aspar (56) who was driving, and two other siblings. The family was on their way from Senggarang, Batu Pahat, to Felda Pemanis, Segamat, when the unforeseen catastrophe struck.

While the other occupants of the MPV miraculously survived the terrifying ordeal, Mr. Juhari sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Sri Gading Health Clinic. The incident was widely reported, including by Sinar Harian.

Investigation Underway

Assistant Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, OCPD of Batu Pahat, confirmed the preliminary findings. Investigations suggest that an object believed to be a coupling shaft component dislodged from a truck traveling in the opposite direction. This component then crashed through the MPV's windshield, leading to the fatal impact.

Authorities are currently investigating the case under statutes pertaining to reckless or dangerous driving causing death. The family of the deceased has voiced their hope for appropriate and decisive action from the authorities in response to this tragic and seemingly preventable accident.

A Family Mourns

The victim’s son, Mr. Noor Shahin (31), shared his profound grief during an interview at the Forensic Unit of Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) in Batu Pahat. He recalled a heartwarming video call with his father just the day before the incident, where Mr. Juhari expressed immense joy and anticipation at the prospect of meeting his three-month-old grandchild.

“Yesterday, my father was very happy. He said he couldn’t wait to meet his grandchild. I was supposed to return from Muar today to see him,” Mr. Noor Shahin recounted, visibly distraught. He fondly remembered his father as a loving and devoted man to his four children and numerous grandchildren. The funeral for Mr. Juhari Murid is scheduled to be held at Tanah Perkuburan Kampung Parit Simpan, Senggarang, following evening prayers on the same day as the incident.
