Netmarble Confirms New Data Leak Exposing 8,000 Additional Records
Korean gaming powerhouse Netmarble has revealed an additional security breach, confirming the exposure of approximately 8,000 personal data records. This unfortunate discovery comes in the wake of a much larger hacking incident that had previously compromised the information of 6.11 million users.
Details of the Newly Identified Breach
The new leak was identified during an internal investigation initiated by Netmarble following the initial cyber intrusion. According to a notice posted on the company's official website, the newly compromised data includes a range of sensitive information. Specifically, it involves 3,185 customer service inquiry records dating back from 2003-04 and 2014-21, alongside 2,022 online job applicant records from previous periods.

Headquartered in Seoul, Netmarble has promptly reported these additional findings to the relevant authorities and has commenced the process of notifying all affected individuals. A company official expressed sincere regret over the incident, stating, "We sincerely apologize once again for failing to thoroughly protect our customers' valuable personal information."
