Coupang CEO Questioned Over Data Breach

Harold Rogers, the interim CEO of Coupang, appeared before police for questioning regarding allegations of obstructing official duties related to a massive data breach that affected over 33 million customers. Despite two previous summonses, Rogers returned to Korea and faced his first direct interrogation by the police task force investigating the case.

The investigation focuses on Coupang's actions, including analyzing a laptop belonging to a data breach suspect without consulting government authorities before publicly announcing a smaller leak of 3,000 customers. The National Assembly filed a complaint for perjury, while the U.S. government has intervened, urging against discriminatory practices against American companies.

Coupang also faces separate complaints regarding industrial accidents at its logistics centers.
