Georgia Police Officer Killed Responding to Fraud Call
A tragic incident occurred in Georgia when a police officer was killed while responding to a fraud-related call at a hotel near Stone Mountain. The officer, Pradeep Tamang, who was born in Nepal and had recently joined the Gwinnett County Police Department, was among two officers who were lured into a hotel room by the suspect, Kevin Andrews.
After being led inside the room, Andrews opened fire without warning. In the ensuing confrontation, both Tamang and his partner, David Reed, returned fire, wounding Andrews. Tragically, Tamang later succumbed to his injuries, while Reed remains in stable condition at a hospital.
The incident, which occurred around 7:30 am, marks the first line-of-duty death for the Gwinnett County Police Department in 2026. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, and authorities are reviewing hotel security footage to gather more information. The suspect, who is expected to survive his injuries, is currently hospitalized.
