Bondi Beach shooting suspect Naveed Akram appeared in court for the first time, facing charges related to Australia's deadliest mass shooting in decades.
A 24-year-old accused in the Bondi Beach shooting, which claimed 15 lives and injured over 40, made his first court appearance on Monday. Naveed Akram, charged with multiple counts of murder and a terrorist attack, appeared via video link from prison.
Two months after the December 14 attack, Akram spoke briefly when asked about suppression orders, responding 'Yeah' to questions from the magistrate.
His lawyer stated it's too early to discuss a plea and mentioned Akram's condition in custody. The court case is set for April next hearing.
Authorities revealed the attack was meticulously planned, including reconnaissance visits and extremist-linked footage on their phones. The Jewish community is still reeling from the attack that targeted a Hanukkah event, with brave individuals like a 'superhero' mum playing key roles in responding to the incident.
