US jets escort Russian military planes out of Alaska's Air Defense Identification Zone after NORAD detects multiple Russian aircraft nearby.
The United States has dispatched fighter jets in response to Russian military aircraft operating near Alaska, according to NORAD. Multiple Russian planes, including Tu-95s and Su-35s, were detected within the region's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). US aircraft, including F-16s and KC-135s, escorted these Russian planes until they exited the zone without entering sovereign airspace.
While Russia has not issued a statement, NORAD emphasized that such activities are routine in Alaska’s ADIZ. Similar incidents involving Chinese and Russian bombers were reported in July 2024, highlighting growing military cooperation between the two nations and concerns about regional stability.
