Torrential rains and severe storms have caused devastating floods in southern France, claiming the lives of at least three people.

Casualties and Locations

An elderly couple was found dead in Le Lavandou, a seaside resort town, after being caught in rapidly rising floodwaters. Another person perished in Vidauban after becoming trapped in a car.

Widespread Damage

The intense rainfall has led to widespread damage, including flooded streets, power outages, and disrupted train services. At least two regional trains stopped their journeys overnight after railway tracks were damaged.

Emergency Response

The situation prompted emergency responses, with hundreds of rescuers deployed. More than 500 calls have been made to emergency services in the Var region.
