An off-duty NYPD officer was attacked and robbed in the Bronx, New York. The assailants stole his gun and other belongings, leaving him seriously injured.
In the Bronx, New York, a 27-year-old off-duty NYPD housing officer was brutally assaulted and robbed early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 4:10 am on St. Peters Avenue in Parkchester, as the officer walked to his vehicle after his shift. Two masked individuals, dressed in black, attacked the officer, stealing his gun belt and weapon.
The officer sustained serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket, after being kicked in the head. He was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
During the attack, the officer, while on the phone with a colleague, pleaded with the assailants, saying, "Don't shoot me! I'm a cop!"
The attackers fled with the officer's wallet, ID cards, and both his personal and NYPD-issued cell phones. Law enforcement is investigating if this robbery is connected to a string of similar crimes in the Bronx.
