Chinese drone maker DJI challenges a US import ban on new models, affecting companies like Autel, in a lawsuit filed against the FCC.
DJI, the world's leading manufacturer of drones, has taken legal action against a recent decision by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that imposes an import ban on its new drone models and critical components. This ban also affects other Chinese-based drone company Autel.
'It carelessly restricts DJI’s business in the US and summarily denies US customers access to its latest technology,' stated DJI in a press release. The FCC's decision, implemented in December, prohibits DJI and Autel from obtaining necessary approvals to sell new drone models or components in the US, although they can still market existing versions.
DJI has filed a lawsuit challenging the FCC's decision in the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. The case is ongoing, and the FCC has not yet responded to requests for comment.
