Hongkong Post suspends airmail services to 24 countries affected by Middle East strikes, including Saudi Arabia and UAE, impacting international mail delivery.
Hong Kong’s public postal service, Hongkong Post, has suspended airmail services to 24 countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia following recent strikes in the region. The suspension affects key locations such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, where flight cancellations have disrupted transit journeys.
A Hongkong Post spokesman stated that the immediate suspension applies until further notice, affecting not only direct services to these countries but also those transiting through their locations. This situation arose due to a joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran, which led to the cancellation of flights and subsequent transit issues.
The affected countries include 11 in Africa, several in Central Asia, and four in South America. Speedpost services in Russia were also impacted. Residents are advised to anticipate significant delays in mail delivery as a result of these disruptions.
