Russian Attack in Ukraine Kills Four in Sloviansk

A recent Russian air attack in the Ukrainian city of Sloviansk has resulted in the deaths of four civilians, including a 14-year-old girl. According to local authorities, 16 others were wounded during the attack, which involved three guided bombs dropped by Russian forces. The incident occurred as both sides of the conflict continue to report progress in their respective areas.

Ukrainian Counteroffensive and Russian Claims

Ukrainian forces have recently retaken nearly all of the Dnipropetrovsk industrial region, driving Russian troops out of over 400 square kilometers (150 square miles). Major-General Oleksandr Komarenko described the situation as difficult but under control, with the heaviest fighting occurring near Pokrovsk and Oleksandrivka. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that Russian forces have extended their gains in the Donbas region, which Moscow has made one of its main objectives since the invasion.

International Efforts and War Crimes Allegations

Trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States are set to resume next week, with discussions focusing on resolving territorial disputes and achieving a lasting peace. Additionally, the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials for their alleged involvement in the deportation of Ukrainian children, a violation of international law known as a crime against humanity.

Civilians Impacted

Nighttime drone strikes in three other Ukrainian cities have left at least 17 people injured, including two children. These attacks highlight the ongoing risks faced by civilians in the conflict zone. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has recently criticized the Russian missile strike on Bryansk city, which killed at least six civilians and injured 37 others, calling it a 'war crime'.
