The Taiwan defense ministry has outlined a strategy to counter potential Chinese military advances in the Taiwan Strait. This strategy focuses on building sustained and scalable combat capabilities, as highlighted during discussions of a proposed NT$1.25 trillion special defense budget.
The plan emphasizes targeting incoming enemy forces, such as amphibious fleets and logistics support, aiming to disrupt any cross-strait assault before it reaches Taiwanese shores. This approach is part of a broader doctrine called 'joint anti-landing operations,' designed to 'deny, delay, and degrade' Chinese forces at every stage of an attack.
The strategy also includes deploying submarines and coastguard ships to enforce blockades and cut off external support. The report anticipates a combination of long-range rocket strikes on critical infrastructure and large-scale amphibious operations using requisitioned civilian vessels.
