Donald Trump advocated capping Harvard University's international student intake at 15% and redirecting funds to trade schools amidst funding disputes.
Former US President Donald Trump has called for Harvard University to limit international student enrollment to 15% to increase opportunities for American students.
This proposal follows previous actions by his administration, including freezing federal funding and restricting Harvard's ability to enroll foreign students.
Trump stated, "Harvard is treating our country with great disrespect," citing concerns over antisemitism and governance.
He suggested redirecting federal funds from Harvard to trade schools, questioning the university's $52 billion endowment and its use. Trump added, "Everyone’s coming up to me saying, ‘We love the idea of trade schools, with that kind of money … you can have the best trade schools anywhere in the world."
Harvard filed a lawsuit in response to the administration's demands for changes in leadership and admissions policies, leading to funding cuts and enrollment restrictions.
