JD Vance Addresses H-1B Visa Debate and University Crackdown
Vice President JD Vance has entered the discussion surrounding the H-1B visa program and the increasing scrutiny of university practices. His comments aim to address concerns and provide his perspective on these contentious issues.
Vance Dismisses "Brain Drain" Fears
Vance challenged the notion that stricter regulations will lead to an academic "brain drain" in the United States. He referenced the American space program as an example of what American talent can achieve. He stated, "This idea that American citizens don't have the talent to do great things... I just reject it. I just think we should invest in our own people. We can do a lot of good."
Defending the University Crackdown
Vance also spoke about the crackdown on universities, highlighting concerns about the quality of scientific research and allegations of discriminatory practices. He argued that accountability is necessary to ensure that taxpayer money is being used effectively and that civil rights laws are being upheld.
He added, "No, this is democratic accountability, and I think universities ought to see it as an opportunity. If they do that, they're going to get better, and the American people will be better off because of it."
