Steve Bannon demands an investigation into Elon Musk's immigration status and suggests seizing SpaceX, accusing Musk of being in the US illegally.
Steve Bannon, former White House official, has publicly called for an investigation into Elon Musk's immigration status, alleging the billionaire is in the US illegally and should be deported.
Speaking with The New York Times, Bannon urged authorities to examine Musk's alleged drug use and a purported attempt to access a classified Pentagon briefing on China. He also suggested suspending Musk's security clearance and canceling government contracts pending the probe.
During his "War Room" podcast, Bannon implored former President Trump to invoke the Defense Production Act to seize control of SpaceX, triggered by Musk's earlier, but retracted, threat to decommission the Dragon spacecraft used by NASA.
Bannon criticized Trump for granting Musk too much power, which he believes Musk used for personal gain, and accused Musk of betraying Trump, the MAGA movement, and the American people. Bannon also voiced concerns that Musk might financially support progressive politicians and attempts to impeach Trump.
Tensions have escalated between Musk and Trump due to Musk's support for a congressional spending bill and growing criticism of the former president.
