Tragedy struck San Antonio, Texas, as severe flash floods claimed the lives of at least five people on Thursday.

The relentless deluge swept away numerous vehicles and triggered a series of urgent high-water rescues in the city's northeastern region, near Loop 410.

According to local police reports, the rapid flooding event led to 19 individuals being caught in the floodwaters. Emergency responders successfully rescued 10 people from the dangerous conditions, while two others managed to self-rescue.

Four individuals were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The powerful currents swept away at least 15 vehicles, and search operations remain active as authorities continue their efforts to locate the two remaining missing persons.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus strongly cautioned drivers against attempting to traverse flooded roadways, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the water's depth and velocity. He warned that entering deep and fast-moving floodwaters poses a significant risk to life.
