France closed Israeli weapons stands at the Paris Airshow, citing offensive displays. Israel is furious, highlighting rising tensions between the allies.
France has shut down the main Israeli company stands at the Paris Airshow, citing the display of offensive weaponry. This action has sparked outrage from Israel, underscoring escalating tensions between the two nations.
According to a source familiar with the situation, French authorities directed the removal of offensive weapons from the stands. This request was allegedly ignored by the Israeli firms, including Elbit Systems, Rafael, IAI, and Uvision.
Israel's defence ministry rejected the order, leading to the erection of a wall separating the Israeli pavilions from others at the airshow. "This outrageous and unprecedented decision reeks of policy-driven and commercial considerations," the ministry said in a statement.
Meshar Sasson, senior vice president at Elbit Systems, criticized the decision, suggesting it was driven by competition. Rafael labeled the move politically motivated, calling it "unprecedented, unjustified, and politically motivated."
The air show organizer is attempting to mediate a resolution to the situation.
