Elon Musk releases negative drug test, challenges NYT & WSJ to do the same after reports of alleged substance use. He denies all allegations.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has fired back at media companies following reports alleging substance abuse. Musk released his negative drug test results and challenged The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal to do the same.
Musk posted his lab results on X, formerly Twitter, showing negative results for various substances, including ketamine, cocaine, and amphetamines. This action follows a New York Times report that claimed Musk used a "cocktail" of substances. Musk responded sharply, calling the NYT's reporting untruthful.
In a separate post, Musk directly challenged both the NYT and WSJ to take drug tests and publish their results, implying that they are "guilty as sin." He also refuted WSJ reports about Tesla's board seeking a new CEO.
The screening, conducted at Fastest Labs of South Austin, Texas, tested for fentanyl, ketamine, and over 22 other substances, all with negative results. Musk has previously acknowledged using ketamine for depression treatment.
The controversy escalated after former President Donald Trump's remarks about Musk's alleged drug use. Musk had earlier dismissed the claims, stating that he tried prescription ketamine years ago for mental health reasons but hasn't used it since.
