Pam Bondi reports over 1,000 Iranians entered the US during Biden's term, amid rising US-Iran tensions and concerns over border security.
Former attorney general Pam Bondi has revealed that over 1,000 Iranian citizens entered the United States during President Joe Biden's administration, heightening concerns amid escalating tensions between the two nations.
During a recent House budget hearing, Bondi stated that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is closely monitoring the situation. She noted that while she couldn't provide specific details on illegal entries, the department is on "high alert."
Fox News, citing a senior Customs and Border Protection source, reported that US Border Patrol agents apprehended 1,504 Iranians at the southern border during President Biden's term. Of those, 729 were subsequently released into the United States.
Bondi declined to comment on the potential threat of Iranian "sleeper cells" operating within the U.S., citing the sensitivity of the information in the given setting.
These revelations come in the wake of increased tensions between the U.S. and Iran, following reports of US forces targeting nuclear sites in Iran, a move that has further complicated the already volatile situation involving Israel and Iran's nuclear ambitions.
