Las Vegas Wetlands Park Wildfire Consumes Over 100 Acres
A significant wildfire has swept through the Wetlands Park area of Clark County, Las Vegas, resulting in the burning of over 100 acres of land. The fire erupted on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a large-scale response from multiple agencies.
Containment Efforts Underway
The Clark County Fire Department (CCFD) and the US Bureau of Land Management are at the forefront of the firefighting operations. They are being supported by a collaborative effort involving local, state, and federal agencies. Crews are diligently working to contain the blaze, with efforts continuing throughout the night.
Location and Impact
The fire is burning in a desert region situated northeast of Old Silver Bowl Park, in close proximity to Weisner Way. As a precautionary measure, authorities have advised the public to avoid the affected area, including the WB Bennett RC Airfield.
Nearby structures and residents are under close observation by local departments. The Wetlands Park Nature Center has been temporarily closed to the public. It is normally open from Tuesday to Sunday, between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm.
Previous Incident
Earlier this month, the park experienced a smaller fire that affected between 3 to 5 acres. At this time, authorities have found no indications of a connection between the two incidents.
