Guy Edward Bartkus, 25, identified as suspect in Palm Springs fertility clinic bombing. He died in the blast, which injured four. Motives detailed in manifesto.
A devastating explosion at a Palm Springs fertility clinic has led investigators to identify the suspect as 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus.
The bombing occurred at the American Reproductive Centers facility, resulting in Bartkus's death and injuries to four others. Bartkus, a resident of Twentynine Palms, allegedly detailed his motivations in a 30-minute audio manifesto and a website.
In the recording, Bartkus expressed his anger at being brought into existence without consent. He identified as a "pro-mortalist" and opposed in vitro fertilization, calling it "extremely wrong."
Bartkus's website referenced a friend named Sophie, potentially linking to the case of Sophie Tinney, who was fatally shot in Washington state.
The explosion took place near North Indian Canyon Drive and East Tachevah Drive. The FBI has classified the incident as an act of domestic terrorism, with the ATF assisting in the investigation. The injured are hospitalized.
The investigation is ongoing.
