OPEC+ nations will boost oil production by 548,000 barrels per day in August, surpassing earlier predictions. This decision is due to a stable economic forecast
An eight-nation subset of OPEC+ has agreed to a larger-than-expected increase in oil production for August. The group, which includes major players like Russia and Saudi Arabia, will lift production by 548,000 barrels per day.
Alongside Russia and Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates are part of this agreement. These nations are currently unwinding 2.2 million barrels per day of voluntary production cuts, separate from the broader OPEC+ strategy.
The OPEC Secretariat cited a "steady global economic outlook and current healthy market fundamentals" as reasons for the decision. Low oil inventories also played a significant role.
The eight producers have been implementing two sets of voluntary production cuts outside of the formal OPEC+ policy. This adjustment continues their efforts to manage oil supply in response to market conditions.
