F-16 Intercepts Plane Near Trump's Bedminster Golf Course
A civilian aircraft triggered an alert when it entered restricted airspace above Bedminster, New Jersey, where former US President Donald Trump was observing the 4th of July holiday.
NORAD Responds to Airspace Breach
On Saturday afternoon, a NORAD fighter jet intercepted the aircraft. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) communicated the event on X, formerly known as Twitter, emphasizing the importance for pilots to check FAA NOTAMs before flight.
The civilian aircraft entered the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) zone around 2:40 pm ET and was promptly escorted away by the F-16 fighter jet.
Multiple Violations Reported
NORAD stated this was the fourth airspace violation of the day, with another occurring afterward. Media outlets, including The New York Post, have confirmed the intercepting aircraft as an F-16.
A similar event occurred in February when F-16s were deployed following an airspace violation above Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
