A Mexican Navy training vessel, the Cuauhtémoc, collided with the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday night, resulting in tragedy. The ship, carrying 277 people, was departing New York for Iceland when it struck the bridge around 8:30 pm.

Details of the Incident

Officials believe a loss of power caused the ship to drift into the bridge. Two cadets died, and 19 were injured. Shocking footage shows sailors clinging to wreckage as masts collapsed.

Victims Identified

One of the deceased was identified as América Yamilet Sánchez from Veracruz, a talented swimmer. The other was Adal Jair Marcos of Oaxaca. The Mexican Navy is working to return their bodies to their families as soon as possible.
