Pakistan Bus Attack: Baloch Rebels Kill 9

In a tragic incident in Pakistan's Balochistan province, nine individuals were killed by Baloch rebels after being forcibly removed from passenger buses. The victims were identified based on their Punjab origins, evident from their identity cards.

The attack occurred near Sur-Dakai along the Loralai-Zhob highway, where armed assailants stopped buses en route from Quetta to Punjab. After checking passengers' CNICs, the militants singled out and executed those from Punjab.

Official Statements and Aftermath

Local officials confirmed the recovery of the bodies and noted the terrorists took the victims' documents. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLA) claimed responsibility, highlighting their ongoing insurgency against the Pakistani government, marked by attacks on non-Baloch civilians and military personnel. This incident mirrors a similar attack last year where 23 lives were lost.

President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the act, attributing it to the outlawed BLA, which seeks to destabilize Pakistan. Human rights organizations have criticized Pakistani security forces for their counter-insurgency methods.
