Michelle Obama on Freedom, Marriage, and Future Plans

Former First Lady Michelle Obama recently shared insights into her current life stage, emphasizing her newfound freedom and independence.

A New Chapter of Independence

In a candid conversation on her podcast, Obama revealed that for the first time, her decisions are primarily focused on her own needs and aspirations, rather than being dictated by her husband's career or her children's requirements. “I mean, this stage in life for me, for me personally, is the first time that I’ve been completely free,” Michelle said.

Addressing Marriage Rumors

Despite past rumors of marital discord, Michelle clarified that while her marriage with Barack Obama has faced challenges, divorce is not on the horizon. She affectionately referred to Barack as "my person," highlighting the strength and resilience of their partnership. "The beauty of my husband and our partnership is that neither one of us was ever really, ever going to quit at it, because that’s not who we are," she stated.

Prioritizing Personal Well-being

Michelle also addressed the criticism she faced for choosing to skip certain political events, such as Donald Trump's inauguration, explaining that she prioritized her own well-being and desires. She wanted to listen to her heart and not just check the boxes.

Future Projects with Larry David

Looking ahead, the Obamas are collaborating with Larry David's production company, Higher Ground, to create a new sketch comedy series for HBO, showcasing their continued involvement in media and entertainment.
