Vivian Spohr, the wife of Lufthansa's CEO Carsten Spohr, was involved in a tragic accident in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy.

While driving her SUV, she struck and fatally injured 24-year-old Gaia Costa, who was crossing the road at a zebra crossing.

CCTV footage indicates Costa attempted to stop upon noticing the approaching vehicle.

The Incident

Despite paramedics' efforts, Costa succumbed to her injuries. Spohr, who was traveling with her daughter, reportedly didn't realize the severity of the incident until alerted by a passerby.

Investigation and Response

Following the accident, she underwent alcohol and drug tests, which came back negative.

Through her lawyer, Spohr expressed profound sorrow and pledged full cooperation with the Italian authorities, offering to mitigate the consequences of the devastating event. She is currently under investigation for negligent homicide in road traffic.

The vehicle is undergoing technical examination, and an autopsy was performed on Costa. The mayor of Tempio Pausania, Gianni Addis, described Costa as actively involved in the city's cultural life.
