A shooting incident in Kentucky resulted in a state trooper being injured and several people wounded at a church in Lexington on Sunday. The incident began in Fayette County.
The shooting started around 11:36 am local time when a state trooper was shot in Fayette County. The suspect then fled to Richmond Road Baptist Church in southwest Lexington, where additional shootings occurred, resulting in injuries to multiple individuals.
The Kentucky State Police reported that the suspect has died, but details surrounding the death have not been released. Authorities have not yet identified the shooter. Governor Andy Beshear confirmed that the injured, including the trooper, are being treated at a local hospital. Authorities are investigating a possible connection to another shooting at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington. Kentucky State Police spokeswoman Sherry H Bray stated that the injured trooper is receiving medical attention.
