Nvidia plans to resume H20 AI chip sales to China after U.S. government assurances. Sales were halted in April. CEO Jensen Huang lobbied against export controls
Nvidia has announced plans to resume sales of its H20 AI chips to clients in China, following assurances from the U.S. government regarding the granting of necessary licenses.
Sales of the H20 chips, which were initially designed to comply with U.S. export regulations regarding China, were previously halted in April. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has been a vocal opponent of export controls.
Nvidia stated that it is filing applications with the U.S. government to resume sales.
The potential shift in policy comes after discussions between Huang and U.S. President Donald Trump, where Nvidia reaffirmed its support for American job creation and leadership in AI. Huang has also met with Chinese officials to discuss the benefits of safe and secure AI.
Huang also announced a new "fully compliant" GPU, the NVIDIA RTX PRO, ideal for digital twin AI for smart factories and logistics.
