KC-46 crews are ordered to curtail APU use due to reported issues. Maintenance was recently performed on a KC-46 at Pease Air National Guard Base.
The U.S. Air Force has instructed KC-46 Pegasus crews to significantly reduce their reliance on the jet's onboard Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) due to ongoing operational difficulties.
This directive comes as the Air Force addresses reported issues with the KC-46's APU system.
A recent example of maintenance action occurred at Pease Air National Guard Base, New Hampshire, where the 157th Maintenance Group completed its first full APU replacement on a KC-46 aircraft. This marked a significant milestone in addressing the APU issues.
The Air Force is actively working to mitigate the impact of these APU problems on the KC-46's operational readiness.
