NJ Trooper Kills Ex and Partner After Stalking; Family Alleges System Failure
In a tragic incident in New Jersey, a state trooper, Ricardo Santos, fatally shot his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Semanchik, and her new boyfriend, Tyler Webb, before taking his own life. The event unfolded after months of alleged stalking and harassment following the end of Semanchik and Santos' brief relationship.
Details of the Incident
Police discovered Semanchik and Webb deceased from gunshot wounds at Semanchik's Pittstown home. Hunterdon County prosecutors described the shooting as a "targeted attack." Santos was later found dead in Piscataway with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Semanchik, a veterinarian, had previously reported the stalking and installed cameras in her car, capturing evidence of Santos following her.
Family Claims of System Failure
The family claims Semanchik sought help from law enforcement but received inadequate protection, alleging a failure by multiple agencies to address her concerns about the escalating harassment, which included property damage and unwanted contact.
"A lot of agencies failed her," said Semanchik's mother. "She tried to get restraining orders. Nobody called her back."
