A shooting at an Austin Target store left two dead and a suspect in custody. Police responded to the scene, and an investigation is underway.
A tragic incident unfolded in Austin, Texas, as a shooting at a Target store resulted in two deaths. The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating.
The APD confirmed that officers responded to the shooting around 3 p.m. local time. A suspect, described as a white male, was apprehended shortly after the incident.
"Preliminary information - two deceased victims. A suspect has been detained. The scene is still active, and the investigation is ongoing at this time," APD stated on X.
Road closures are in place as the investigation continues. The suspect allegedly hijacked a vehicle in an attempt to flee.
Local news outlets reported that between three and five victims were shot, including a child, who thankfully survived. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services treated four patients involved in the shooting.
