Widespread Contamination Concerns Emerge

A recent statement from ByHeart revealed that out of 36 formula samples tested from three different production lots, five samples contained Clostridium botulinum type A bacteria. Consequently, the company declared, “Based on these results, we cannot rule out the risk that all ByHeart formula across all product lots may have been contaminated.”

Since August 1, more than 107 infants across the nation have received treatment for botulism with an IV medication known as BabyBIG, a figure significantly higher than the typical annual count of fewer than 200 infant cases.
