Nalin Haley Demands Total Immigration Moratorium, Slams Partial Ban Post-DC Shooting

Nalin Haley, son of former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, has reiterated his staunch anti-immigration stance, expressing dissatisfaction with the Trump administration's recent decision to suspend immigration and naturalization from 19 specific countries. His strong reaction follows a deadly shooting incident last month in Washington D.C., where an Afghan national tragically shot two National Guard members.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the vocal "America First" advocate, 24, posted, "Lol that’s it? Anything less than a complete immigration moratorium ain’t it." This isn't the first time young Haley has publicly voiced his opinions on immigration policy. Just weeks prior, he advocated for a complete ban on H-1B visas and dismissed dual citizenship as a "stupid idea," asserting his sole loyalty to America and urging the modern Republican Party to adopt a similar unwavering stance.

His strong views come amidst a nuanced debate within the MAGA movement, particularly regarding former President Trump's acknowledgment of a domestic talent shortage necessitating foreign skilled workers. Interestingly, immigrants from Asian nations, notably India and China, form a significant portion of America's tech and defense sectors—a fact that often becomes a point of contention given Nalin Haley's own Indian-origin roots. His heritage and even his Catholic conversion have, at times, been targets for questioning by conservative Republicans and White nationalists.

In a recent Fox News interview, Haley doubled down on his firm stance, sharply criticizing Congress as "nothing more than a glorified nursing home." He outlined several key "America First" priorities:

  • A complete ban on H-1B visas.
  • Preventing corporations and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from acquiring entire neighborhoods.
  • Promoting a form of capitalism designed to benefit everyday Americans, not just large corporations and the elite.
  • Emphasizing the need for Republicans to actively listen to young people (Generation Z).

The Washington D.C. Shooting Incident

The catalyst for these renewed immigration debates was the November 26th shooting in Washington D.C. Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national, shot two National Guard soldiers near the White House. Tragically, 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom was killed, while 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe remains in critical condition. Lakanwal was injured and subsequently arrested.

Following this incident, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initiated a suspension of immigration for individuals from the following 19 countries: Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. Nalin Haley's call for a complete moratorium goes significantly further than this specific suspension.
