The crucial Azov Sea port of Temryuk experienced a substantial fire, reportedly ignited by these unmanned aerial vehicles on Friday. Local emergency services swiftly responded to the blaze, which threatened vital infrastructure.
Key Export Hub Targeted
The port of Temryuk is a strategic hub for various commodities, playing a key role in Russia's export network. It handles a diverse range of goods including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), refined oil products, petrochemicals, and bulk food items such as grain. The fire specifically targeted the Maktren-Nafta LPG transshipment terminal.
This facility is crucial for loading LPG from both Russian and Kazakh producers destined for international markets. According to industry sources, the Maktren-Nafta terminal had processed approximately 220,000 tons of LPG during the first ten months of 2025, highlighting its importance to regional trade. Emergency teams were deployed to the site to contain the inferno and assess the damage.
Air Defense Response
In response to the aerial assault, the Russian Defence Ministry stated that its air defense systems had successfully intercepted and neutralized a total of 41 Ukrainian drones overnight. One of these drones was reportedly shot down over the Krasnodar region, underscoring the intensity of the confrontation.
