Minneapolis School Receives Bomb Threat

A Minneapolis school closed its doors on Monday following a bomb threat, authorities reported. The district took the measure ‘out of an abundance of caution’ after receiving an emailed threat targeting several schools.

The Threat’s Timing

The threat came just one day after 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father returned home from a South Texas immigration facility. Liam, a preschooler in the Minneapolis district, was detained by ICE on January 20. His release, along with his father's, was ordered by a federal judge on Saturday, who criticized the Trump administration’s practices as cruel.

Impact on Students

Four other children from the district remain at Dilley detention center. Superintendent Zena Stenvik noted that young students are aware of the situation and have even asked about it in school. She expressed concern over the long-lasting negative impacts of such events on children, emphasizing that Liam’s family entered the U.S. legally and were following rules.

Return to School

Liam is expected to return to school once he has recovered from his experience. Stenvik confirmed that Liam will have a support plan in place to help him readjust.
