Rhode Island Police Identify Suspect in High School Hockey Shooting

Police have identified a suspect in the fatal shooting at a high school ice hockey game in Rhode Island. The incident occurred at the Dennis M Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, about five miles north of Providence.

Robert Dorgan, who also used the name Roberta Esposito, was identified as the suspect. He died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the arena on Sunday. The shooting appeared to be targeted and may stem from a family dispute.

Videos of the incident showed shots were fired during the game, causing panic among players and fans. A bystander intervened to help end the situation swiftly.

Families of the victims expressed their fear after the shooting. One parent described running back into the arena to find her son and witnessing paramedics performing CPR. Another player recounted hiding in the locker room and hearing multiple shots.

The governor of Rhode Island expressed his heartbreak over the tragedy, referencing a previous shooting at Brown University. This marks another instance of gun violence in the United States, highlighting the need for measures to prevent such incidents.
