Sri Lanka has discharged 22 Iranian sailors from a hospital after they were rescued following the sinking of their warship in international waters. The sailors were treated at Karapitiya Hospital in Galle after the IRIS Dena was torpedoed just outside Sri Lanka’s territorial waters. Another 10 sailors are still undergoing treatment, and the bodies of 84 Iranians retrieved from the Indian Ocean are also at the hospital. The survivors were transferred to a beach resort in the same district. Sri Lankan authorities are handling the survivors according to international humanitarian law and have contacted the International Committee of the Red Cross for assistance.
