Canadian MP Criticizes Lack of Transparency After Missile Attack

A conservative MP has condemned the Canadian government's silence following a missile attack on a Canadian military camp in Kuwait.

James Bezan, a defence critic, called the lack of information 'really shameful' and accused the government of failing to keep Canadians informed.

The attack on the Ali Al-Salem Air Base on March 1 reportedly caused damage, though no Canadian soldiers were injured. Satellite imagery analysis by La Presse indicated the extent of the damage.

While the Department of National Defence confirmed that all Canadian military personnel in the region are safe, Bezan highlighted that Canada's allies, such as the United States, have been more transparent in sharing details of the incident.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other officials have denied knowing about the attack, but the DND stated that efforts to protect military personnel have been prioritized, including some being relocated or redeployed.

Bezan stressed the need for greater transparency and called for Canada to consider helping defend Gulf states, as suggested by a top military commander.
