A deadly fireworks factory explosion in Suphan Buri, Thailand, killed nine people. The blast reduced the factory to rubble, injuring two others.
A devastating explosion ripped through a fireworks factory in Suphan Buri province, central Thailand, on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of nine people.
The blast occurred around 11:00 am local time in the Mueang district, located north of Bangkok. Rescue teams were met with a scene of complete destruction, with the factory reduced to rubble.
Initially reporting four deaths, authorities have confirmed that the death toll has risen to nine. Two individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
Sadly, such incidents are not uncommon in Thailand, where lax enforcement of safety regulations has been cited as a contributing factor. A similar explosion occurred at another fireworks factory in the same province in January 2024, claiming at least 23 lives. These events highlight the urgent need for improved safety standards and stricter enforcement to prevent future tragedies.
