Two Pennsylvania State Troopers were shot in Susquehanna County. Gov. Shapiro and Sen. McCormick have responded. An investigation is underway.
A serious incident unfolded in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, this Thursday morning, leaving two state troopers injured after a shooting.
The shooting occurred along Route 171, near the village of Thomson, which is about 40 miles north of Scranton. State police spokesperson Trooper Logan T Brouse confirmed the incident.
Governor Josh Shapiro addressed the shooting during an event outside Philadelphia: “About an hour ago in Susquehanna County, two state troopers were shot... It is an active situation”. Colonel Christopher Paris, head of the Pennsylvania State Police, is currently on the scene.
Senator Dave McCormick also acknowledged the situation, expressing support for the troopers. Authorities have not yet released further details about the troopers' condition or the circumstances surrounding the shooting as the investigation continues.
